Work in progress

The past few day I have been having fun with the mould I made the other day. I bought this bucket of liquid porcelain clay a few months ago & I have been eager to use it.
I experimented with coloring the porcelain clay with oxides and stains & I generally fooled around like a happy girl. I just love experimenting and the hardest part will be the waiting of these pieces to be fired.
I'm also making a slightly bigger mould to make bigger cups - I think I'm one of the people who will need a bigger cup. Are you a small or a big cup-person? :)
In a few days I will post the process of how to use this liquid porcelain clay - I was too busy playing to get pics for a tutorial! ;)
Oh, and the kitchenfloor is not liking me for playing around... And yesterday, Staci & Alex from 26 Olive Street wrote me that they featured one of my greeting cards in a Storque article about colormatch. A feature that allows you to upload one of your own pictures, add some tags to it & then it will go search Etsy for items in the same color hues. If you are a colorfreak like me, you are going to love this! Make sure to read the Storque article on Etsy.
Check out their shop too - it has unbelievable pictures of their items and is just freakin' cool!

My creative space

My creative space is the couch this morning. I have been working on my Babette blanket over the past weeks and now the project is halfway, I'm already looking into new projects to work on.
My partner brought me some crochet books from the library yesterday & I just can't believe one of those books. It seems to contain thousands of stitches so I still have a long way to go.
It's also difficult to read them because they are in Dutch. Although Dutch is my mother tongue, I learned to crochet in English from Tara & I got used to the English names and abbreviations of the stitches.Weird huh?I also have been wanting to incorporate crochet into ceramics, so I made my first experiment. I crocheted a flower and a little test square and put some liquid porcelain clay onto it. I'll fire it sometime soon & hope that the thread fires away & that the stiches remain in porcelain - to be continued...

Want to show your creative space? Hop over to Kootoyoo's to play! It's fun! :)

Feeling postcards

When I was working on the 99-feeling project, I often got asked if I would print any of the pictures onto postcards. I love snail mail and I do think that feeling postcards would be a fun card to send someone. As I won't be able to invest in all 99 feelings at once, I have decided to start off with 6 cards. It was hard to choose which ones though but I think with these 6, one can cover a lot of occasions... What do you think? Is there any missing that you think: 'I would want to send that particular feeling?' :)
I can still change my mind as I only just now sent out some price inquieries for printing. :) Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Can't tell yet when they will be available but if you subscribe to my newsletter or blog, you'll find out first! :)

Flickr favorites

1. 009|365 Coffee ~ Daily Routines, 2. mmm... coffee..., 3. Taste, Smell and Sight - COFFEE, 4. Coffee? / Un cafetito?

Created with fd's Flickr Toys.

Holy cow, it's tuesday again. Can't believe time goes so fast but I'm glad to share some of my Flickr favorites. Actually I found these using the search term 'coffee' on Flickr.
Jip, my daily fix is certainly coffee. I think this addiction is my mom's fault. She used to eat coffeebeans while being pregnant of me and I loved chewing on them when I was a child.
Coffee is a big thing for me and I usually drink it with a sky of milk so jip, a latte really.
And did you know that I'm obsessed with how the handle of the mug looks? I need to be able to stick three of my fingers in there so I can warm my hands when it's cold. And if that's not possible, I prefer a mug without a handle.
What is your fix of the day? And can you show me in a mosaic ?

If you like to play this week, make your mosaic and add a link to your blog or Flickr in Mister Linky. I'll pop over to have a look at yours. Can't wait to see your creations! :)
I hope Mister Linky will behave good this week...

Results sample tiles & wall art

I was superpleased when I opened the kiln last week. The sample tiles I fired came out super nice. Even though it takes a lot of time to make samples, it is very important to know how it will look on different structures and textures. It makes future work so much easier.

Colored clay slib or engobe

Oxides

New colors oxides.
The last one on this row is a mixture of cobalt an black and it gives a great purple.

The wall art came out nice too. I do regret that I colored the babuschka blue on the free fall tile though. I think it turned out too blue. Some of these will have a second firing with oxides so they will have a different background.

Share some candy

I'm superhappy to share some candy with you. :)
They just launched a new category on the site called "handmade" and included my work in there. I didn't know the site until I was contacted by Rueben through Etsy a while ago.
It's a fun, happy and awesome place so go check it out if you have a chance!
Oh, and while you're at it, you can rate my work & leave a comment if you like!
I'll share some candy if you do! ;)

Dream in progress... part 6

The progress on the Babette blanket is slow but that's OK as it's still a very fun & relaxing project to work on. This week I made the second 12 row square. I love the colors on this one - very vibrant and fun.
I can't wait to put it all together but it's still long from being finished so I just have to be patient.
And I drew the winner of the brooch I made via random.org!
Congrats Kerrin from Sigmosaics! I'll be sending off the brooch soon! :)
