The making of... ambitious

I like making this ambitious feeling. The process involved is straighforward and fun. First I roll a thin slab of clay. Then I place a little paper tie onto it and cut it out. I trace the tie onto the feeling and scratch the surface a bit on the feeling and the back of the tie. Then I apply some clay slib and press the tie onto the feeling. I finish off the edges with a wet paintbrush.
Do you feel ambitious sometimes?

Pencil case

The other day at our sew/knit/crochet group meeting, we all made little pouches to put stuff in. There were patterns by three designers and I chose to make a pencil case by Oon.
Since I'm building my fabric stash I had a nice range to choose from and decided that the bug fabric by LilaRubyKing would make a perfect pencil case. I love it &hope my nephew will love it too! :)

Making

It's a bit of a mess in my studio at the moment. I'm moving all my shipping supplies into my studio to make room for the planned renovations. A horrible task which I dread of course.
I just know that I'll be looking for things that got a new place and that I probably put away too well...
And I'm also quite busy with organising '1 square meter' which will be held on april 22nd in my hometown. It's fun & all participants are superenthousiast about it so that makes me really happy!

Seeing UFO's

I went supply shopping the other day and I couldn't resist buying more cotton yarn. And of course, I didn't know what colors I still had at home so I just picked some out randomly. When I got back home, I wanted to put my yarn away and saw that I still had SO many. Haha, I feel like a yarn hoarder now.
But it made me so happy to see all the colors and I came across an UFO (unfinished object) that I thought would be a good one to finish now.I started making these granny squares in November 2009 and somewhere along the way, I must have gotten bored of it and put it aside. All with untucked ends - yikes! But now I nearly finished tucking in all the ends and need to crochet a few more squares before I can finish the blanket. I can't wait to get back to my crochet hook and hopefully it will be finished by August so it can be a pretty heirloom for our baby.

The making of... in love

The feeling in love takes a bit of time to make but it's quite fun because of the different processes.
First I roll out a thin slab of clay in where I press tiny hearts with a cookie cutter. Cookies this size are teethfillers anyway, I prefer 'em a bit bigger. :)
Then I use one heart to place on the feeling and trace the outlines so I know where the heart is supposed to go. I scratch all hearts roughly, apply some clay slib and attach the heart. It's a bit messy at this point so I work only partially on a few hearts at once.  After they are attached, I smoothen out the side with a wet paintbrush and remove any excess clay.
I always have an 'in love' feeling as an example because I like to look where I kind of place the hearts so that there are not too many but also not too little. :)

1 + 1 = 3

1 + 1 = 3

I have some wonderful news to share with you all. It's been the hardest not to tell so I can't express how delighted I feel to finally spill the beans.
My partner and I are expecting a baby in August!
A summer child born in the year of the dragon! Can it get any happier? :)
We are without saying thrilled and can't wait to hold the little one in our arms.
Now you also know the reason why it's been a bit quiet on my blog lately: lots of energy went to the little us in my belly. The first trimester went smoothly and I'm feeling good and most of all very, very happy.
My blog does not really focus on my personal life but I just wanted to share our happy news with all you lovelies!

Happy weekend to you all!

Much love,
Mitsy
