The other day I read this blogpost from Ballee on how yarn looks better in balls.
I looked at my cotton yarn stash...
and I think Ballee is right...
What do you think? :)
I love all my cotton yarn wound up in balls. Haha, that's a little change from crocheting.
Haven't done any work on my Babette blanket this week so I thought that this would make a nice crochet post even though there is no stitch involved! :)
I also want to share this blog with you: the design alphabet. The Design Alphabet is a daily read dedicated to home and product design. focusing on one alphabet letter per day. The Design Alphabet features product reviews, stores, new designers and interesting bits and bobs from around the globe. They featured my work a while back under the letter 'A' and I only found out about it recently. :)
It really looks better in balls. Who would've thought that such a little change can make such a big difference :)
ReplyDeleteI like the balls too but more for an aesthetical reason, for the fact that it'seasy to unwind the yarn! LOL just me...
ReplyDeleteOn my way to check out that site!
oooh Mtsy, did you really roll all these yarn balls yourself!! Did your wrist survive that?
ReplyDeleteWoW! Balling yourself all those yarn balls?? It should have been a hard work! Haha!
ReplyDeleteBut I agree, balls are nicer ;D
It indeed looks better!
ReplyDeleteBut it takes a lot of love to wind them up :)
Half the fun of spinning is the winding into a ball..
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on the feature :-D
I've never thought about it, but given the visuals, I must agree with you! Balls for the win!
ReplyDeleteagreed .. the yarn does indeed look better in balls! colorful selection you have there :)
ReplyDeleteHi! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the feature :) You're all over the place.
But I'm not sure if I agree on the balls (if I agree, I have a lot of work to do ;))
I thin if you put them on shelves that it looks better if they aren't rolled up in balls. They would fall off ;)
Oh yes, they do look better indeed! Unfortunately they take up more storage space that way (at least in my storage system), so I can't do that with all of mine. But the small leftover yarns, certainly. :)
ReplyDeletethey do look better and do make handy things to chuck on someone round up like that :p
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your feature! I had a look and it's a wonderful one!
ReplyDeleteOK, I have to admit the yarn look better in balls. he he
Hi!
ReplyDeleteThanks for making to before/after picture! I was already thinking, I'm the only weird winder in the world :)
I think the colors are richer in the first photo, because they reflect less light, perhaps, but both ways look good to me :-)
ReplyDeleteYes I definitely agree. Although I don't knit, I do have yarn (don't ask why) and I always put it into balls.
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely both ways, but I also prefer them in balls :)
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats on the feature! ^_^
They looks more cosy in a ball, I usually buy my yarn in hanks, when I am done dyeing I make them in to balls...
ReplyDeleteEWian
That's how I keep ALL of my yarn! I love the look of it so much better, and I always tuck the tag into small wrapped section of the ball incase I need to read up on the yarn later!
ReplyDeleteAnd also, it is just plain easier to knit/crochet from a cake or ball of yarn I think!
ough tough call - I like 'em both. but I definitely like the idea of spending hours zoning out and winding and organizing yarn. such crafty satisfaction.
