My creative space is the couch this morning. I have been working on my Babette blanket over the past weeks and now the project is halfway, I'm already looking into new projects to work on.
My partner brought me some crochet books from the library yesterday & I just can't believe one of those books. It seems to contain thousands of stitches so I still have a long way to go.
It's also difficult to read them because they are in Dutch. Although Dutch is my mother tongue, I learned to crochet in English from Tara & I got used to the English names and abbreviations of the stitches.Weird huh?I also have been wanting to incorporate crochet into ceramics, so I made my first experiment. I crocheted a flower and a little test square and put some liquid porcelain clay onto it. I'll fire it sometime soon & hope that the thread fires away & that the stiches remain in porcelain - to be continued...
Want to show your creative space? Hop over to Kootoyoo's to play! It's fun! :)
Looks perfect for a rainy day! :)
ReplyDeleteAm curious about the experiment!
haha, so funny you can't read the crochet manuels in Dutch :-)
ReplyDeleteInfact it's also very easy, :-)
I am very curious about your experiment, hope it works, would be beautiful!
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about the crochet ceramics. Have been investigating something similar myself.
ReplyDeleteI'll be following with interest.

great experiment; very curious what it will look like.
ReplyDeleteThe same language weirdness happens to me with felting. I've learnt to felt in dutch/english and when people ask me stuff in spanish, my mother tongue, I never know the "proper" terminology!
ReplyDeleteCAn't wait to see what comes out of that experiment!
Are you going to the Cermics maarkt in Maaseik?
Ok, I'll just stay here to see what happens..
ReplyDelete....
...
Ready yet?
Can't wait! xo
I can't wait to see how your experiment goes. Roll on next week! By the way, I am so bad at deciphering crocheting instructions, they may as well be written in Dutch! I can't work it out at all!
ReplyDeleteCrochet into ceramics?! I'm in awe of the creative thinking out there. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how your little experiments turn out!
ReplyDeleteand I love your little watcher as well, does he help much? : )
interesting experiment! i'll be keen to see how it turns out :)
ReplyDeletefunny girl, are the terms so different between the languages for crochet?
I love a bit of experimentation and thinking outside the square... can't wait to see the result!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how your crochet experiment turns out..and I love the look of your blanket. On first glance i thought it was going to be similar to one featured on my blog recently -a huge blanket found at the Avoca op shop. It is basically a massive version of the one you showed. Just came across your blog, thanks for having me!
ReplyDeleteOh, sounds like a tricky experiment. Would love to see the results! Imagine combining two great loves this way!
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea! It'll be very interesting to see the result of experiment!
ReplyDeleteOOoh the clay experiment is fun! Wanna play too :-D
ReplyDeleteOh looks interesting! I hope it works!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting idea! I am so curious to see the results. Love those crocheted pieces.
ReplyDeleteI was also so happy to see your sweet kitty!! He/she looks so much like my Anni. I think they would be good friends. And Anni is so bored with me since I am always sewing and creating instead of playing with her. She needs a playmate. :)
You blow me away with everthing you do. I don't know how I am going to wait for your crochet to be fired. What a great idea. If it works you could have an amazing business catering to the desperate crafty types, all keen to turn their crochet works to stone (so to speak). I can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteI keep my fingers crossed for firing :) And I just cant resist your cat..hehe
ReplyDeleteYey for mixed media!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a very cozy space. And what an inventive experiment! It will be fabulous if it works out.
ReplyDeletevery interesting idea, will see how it turns out. i have the happy hooker too!
ReplyDeleteyour cards from your last post are an excellent idea too.
you are working like lightning lately :)
Ohhh so intriguing!! I hope the stitches will stay ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't find it weird at all, I had the same problem when I started to read patterns in Portuguese! I learned most of the stitches in English, but now I'm a bilingual knitter :)
ReplyDeleteI have Happy Hooker too, it's awesome!
