These birds came out of the kiln earlier this week. They are not ready to assemble yet as they need to be sanded first. A job that I really dread as you all know...

Work in progress
Every now and then I love to share some work in progress.
These birds came out of the kiln earlier this week. They are not ready to assemble yet as they need to be sanded first. A job that I really dread as you all know...
After they are sanded, they have to get some legs. I cut the legs in different sizes so you get small and large birdies.
First I glue the legs in the bottom of the birdie.
I let 'em dry before I glue them to the bottom part.
Then I take my time to find a nice bottom for each bird and there we have a large flock.
I'll photograph them tommorrow and will list them in my shop as individuals, pairs or little flocks. A larger flock is excited to fly off to a shop in Melbourne! I would be excited too, I love Melbourne! Lucky birds! :)

ReplyDeleteooo, so much!!! I feel for you!! all that sanding :-(((
ReplyDeleteBut well, the result is very cute!!!
Your little birdies are SO cute! I just love seeing so many of them :) When I first looked at the photo quickly I thought that the bases were buttons with their little holes *grin*.
ReplyDeletewouw you have done an amazing ammount of work!! I hope you don't need to sand again soon...

I love them, they are so very cute!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your working process, these birds are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI do not like to sand either, is the most ungrateful, but of course is an essential step for the final finish just right. The birds are so very beautiful together.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw these pictures in my blog feed, I thought those feet were marshmellows. Don't be getting them mixed up or your hot chocolate recipe (which is yum, by the way) will be a whole lot more crunchy.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, love them! Sounds like a lot of work indeed but it's worth every minute you have put on them!
ReplyDeleteomg - i love little flocks :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm thinking my little bird may need a friend soon. So many to choose from too!
ReplyDeleteThese birds are so special and sweet!
