Bad habits

I know that lots of you might find this extremely weird: sandwiches with butter and chocolate sprinkles for breakfast. It's very common in Belgium to put chocolate sprinkles on bread and you can't make me any happier in the morning!
Fresh, white bread with a crunchy crust, richly buttered and pure, chocolate sprinkles... BLISS!

Thank goodness we don't have strawberry pop tarts and crumpets readily available in our supermarket... :)
What's your favorite breakfast?

I should be fruit, light joghurt and a small spoon of cereals ... but I you put your favorite 'tartine au chocolat' before my nose, well I would not be able to resist that's for sure !
The best! I used to have that for breakfast everyday when I was till living with my parents. And on Sundays I'd have it on a 'kadetje', even better. It's a tread now whenever I'm at my parents for lunch.
Chocolate sprinkles! YUM! Im a fan of marmite. It dos'nt look s great, but tastes amazing! You can't not love it! though, i may just convert to chocolate sprinkles now, haha
I have the same boring, comforting for me, breakfast everyday: mate (which is a sort of tea from Southamerica) with two toasts with butter and sometimes, home made jam. That is all. Anything more (like muesli) and I need a nap afterwards!LOL
Hagelslag! Muizestrontjes!
I love modern German breakfast with fresh fruits, müsli, freshly baked green tea, soymilk and coffee.... But if I'm at the other side of the world Indonesian mungobean poridge or fried rice is the best... When I was a child banana milk and brezel was my favourite.
A lot of Indonesians love to have a breakfast like you do! This must be Dutch heritage. Well, we're German in this case: No chocolate sprinkles on white bread... :D
OOh, that sounds so nice but naughty! I wouldn't dare have something that indulgent, I'd be even bigger than I am now. Mine sounds so boring in comparison, a bowl of breakfast cereal, usually Special K with a cup of tea. (UK) Interesting to see what others have though.
Oh, heavens, Mitsy--your photo scared me a little!!
I had recently read an article on how the practice of eating protein-rich insects is gaining a foothold in Europe http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703...
and I thought at first that your chocolate sprinkles were termites or ants!!! Shudder. :)
That is a little weird...
My favorite breakfast is toast, no butter (I hate butter)
Or this: http://www.panificadoradecarnide.pt/i/produtos/pa...
a mix of some muesli and some bran flakes and a glass of orange juice (no bits!!)
That's kinda new to me. You're like taking out the childish part in you and experimenting on foods :D Sounds a fun breakfast though.

OO, I'm going to have to try that...it seems like a great idea for parties to.
I usually just eat cereal in a large bowl of milk but my favorite breakfasts are buttered toast with a soft boiled egg or (more indulgent) lots of super buttery wheat bread toast dipped in super chocolaty chocolate milk....my mom used to make this for me for breakfast on special occasions (yummmmy)
LOl Misty, never thought about how odd breakfast habits people have all over the world about breakfast... hmm guess I didn´ttravel enoug.... :)

I love to have frehs bread with cheese or "pindakaas"
Oh my, it doesn't seem weird at all to me, it seems delicious! I gotta try a sprinkles breakfast! :]
I used to eat strawberry Pop-Tarts for breakfast when I was little! Those are delicious too! I love white bread with butter and sugar sprinkled on top, not that's a horrible habit!

Hagelslag op wit brood! Oh, dat is lang geleden dat ik dat heb gegeten! Zooo lekker! Volgende keer I'm in Holland I will buy it...samen met tom poezen en pindakaas!
Oh, the memories. I used to eat that when I was a kid in Germany. The exact same chocolate bits. We had also something called "Eszet-Schnitten" which are thin tablets of chocolate to be eaten on bread. Lecker!
Now I eat mostly oats or other breakfast cereal. Much less exciting than chocolate on bread. So maybe tomorrow morning.....
i must have that one day :D i love cinnamon toast crunch but its not cheap :/ i also put butter on my toast and than a mixture of sugar and cinnamon, really good :D
lol, Mitsy, when I lived in the NL I did find it very weird - and luxurious - having Nutella at breakfast. But I suppose you work it out with the miles on the bike :)
Chocolate sprinkles on a slice of bread... I would never thought of that, I must definitely try it.
The first time I had ever heard of sprinkles on buttered bread was a couple of years ago when my sweetheart's brother had moved to Amsterdam with his wife for graduate school. We were on the topic of things they missed from home when they told us they couldn't fin peanut butter anywhere (because the name translated to horribly as peanut cheese or something like that) but that they could get any variety of sprinkles you could imagine to put on their buttered bread. It seemed bizarre to me at the time, but, really, I guess it isn't all that worse than slathering buttered bread with cinnamon sugar or even sticky sweet honey or jam, which is my favorite way to eat toast.
So glad to be a Belgian so I can eat this stuff totally guilt free! :) Fun to read what you guys have for breakfast!
you are so funny having this for breakfast!
my blood sugar thingy would go crazy, tho my taste buds would love it! meusli for me :)
If I don't have an egg and some kind of bread for breakfast, my day might not be the same, hehe. Breakfast is my most favorite meal of the day and I never liked anything sweet in the morning. That's just me. Nelson would kill for a sweet breakfast.
I want to try that Mitsy! It's looks a little strange but I am sure it tastes fantastic! hehehe

Right now I am obsessed with peanut butter. Every morning I have it on a slice of toast. The health food shop here roasts peanuts and make peanut butter fresh. It has no additives only peanuts and tastes so good. I can never eat the supermarket brand again. :)

Enjoy your sprinkles dear Mitsy!

I have few options for breakfast. My choice depends on my mood, weather, what I ate on dinner, what I ate on the previous breakfast, how the stars stand, actually, it depends only on my current wishes and probably on what products do I have at the moment, etc., etc.

1. cheese pancakes with sour cream, homemade jam and black tea

2. pancakes with maple syrup and fresh brewed coffee with cream

3. oatmeal with honey and black tea

4. tender omelet with toasts and black tea

I'm Ukrainian and we're trying to eat well in the morning. We even have an interesting saying for this case: "Eat your breakfast alone, divide your lunch with your friend and give your dinner to your enemy."
