Special beads

I've been asked to make some porcelain beads of a certain diameter. Not really easy as the porcelain schrinks when being fired. So I've been making and measuring and writing it down and hope that I will get the perfect bead diameter when they are fired. Fingers crossed! :)

My creative space

Today I'll be shipping off the work that was done at my workshop a few weeks back. It's about time after 2 weeks. I love how it all came out & can't wait to see what the ladies will do with it all after they receive it.

Do you remember I did some experiments with dipping thread into porcelain and twisting it around paper beads? Here are the results from that:The beads didn't come out really well, the thread is broken on the spot where I placed it on the kiln shelf. But they are quite sturdy I must say which is a complete surprise to me. I'll place 'em on some silversand next time so that they don't touch the shelves and hope that will make 'em whole.I also did a few beads with solid clay around the paperbead and then added a texture to them. They came out really sturdy and are light as a feather.
In the left hand corner you see the left over of a bead where I twisted thread around and then dipped it into porcelain slib.

My creative space

When I came home yesterday, I found a little package on the table. It was from Sandra from ZsaZsaZsu. I did not order anything so I certainly was surprised & even more to see what was inside...
Some crochet samples she made with different kind of thread to see what works best. Bliss, material for me to drench into porcelain slib. Perfect timing as I planned to do a porcelain firing this weekend. Can't wait to see how it all turns out! Thanks so much, Sandra! :)

How to make a colourful key chain?

This is a very quick and easy project where even toddlers can help with: a colorful keychain.
Here is what you need: A piece of scoubidoo thread, colorful wooden beads with a big hole, a keyring.Fold the scoubidoo thread in half.
Then slip the keyring a little bit over the thread.
Slip the ends of the scoubidoo thread through the loop and pul firmly.
Then start adding beads on both ends of the scoubidoo threads.
Tie a knot at the ends of the threads.
Cut off the remaining ends of the scoubidoo thread.
And here is the result: it's our keychain to our mailbox.
Talk about our mailbox. For the past two weeks, someone is putting flowers on our mailbox sometimes. They are usually picked in the neigborhood plantholders and just placed on our mailbox. We have no clue who is doing this & it's freaking me out a bit!
We found out that they are placed on our mailbox in the night of saturday on sunday so last weekend we placed a little camera to find out who is doing this. Unfortunately, no new flowers were placed... so we still don't know who is doing this.
We'll leave the camera out there and hope to at least catch the animal who is sometimes peeing against our front door! :)
